Last week’s style inspiration shed light on lace and the ladies who do it. This week we’ll touch on a favorite in fashion, embellishments. Defined as a “decorative detail or feature added to something to make it more attractive”, embellishments play a major role in the fashion world. Chances are you have seen your fair share of an embellished garment and more than likely, have a few pieces hanging in your closet. From embroidered to lace, fringed to beaded, embellishments have been and will always be in style.
Many fashion houses have embraced embellishments season after season, Balmain being one of them. Christophe Decarnin revived the legendary house with his rock star chic collection of beaded jackets and sequined dresses, and current creative director, Olivier Rousteing is successfully carrying the bejeweled torch.
From shine to seduction, sequins to fur, it’s impossible to get away from embellished clothing and even more impossible to say you don’t like it. The Autumn/Winter 2013 collections of many designers was a major indication that this is a huge trend for the holidays.
Bring on the bling, bling in jeweled clusters and gems, or shine bright in sequins and beading. Bedazzled blouses, dresses, pants, skirts, socks, and tights will reign for years and years to come.
Embellished Opulence… Embellished Elegance.
How will you wear it?
