Seems like it was just yesterday I was ranting on about things I hated in 2012, fast forward 12 months and we’re back where we started. 2013 had a lot of good moments in fashion, but unfortunately when there is good, bad won’t be far behind. Let’s take a look at a few of the trashiest, tackiest trends that won’t be missed in the new year – or any year for that matter!

TOO SHORT SHORTS
Q: Who wears short shorts? A: Not me. Why? Because it is one of the trashiest, unsanitary trends I’ve ever seen.
PEPLUM PEPLUM EVERYWHERE
I was afraid this would happen, designers bring back a timeless classic in fashion, it appears on the runways and in print, but once the fast fashion retailers get a hold of it, it turns into complete overkill. I love peplum as much as the next fashionista, but there is such a thing as too much.
I wish I could put Miley Cyrus down as one of the worst trends, but I’m trying to be nice. With that being said, the newest dance craze glorified by rappers and manufactured pop stars is quite annoying to the eyes and ears. Twerking? Really who thought of this… and why do they hate us so much.
I will never understand why people wear these, why they think it’s cool and why this trend keeps recurring. Guess I really am getting old.
‘EVERYTHING BUT THE KITCHEN SINK’ NAIL ART
Gone are the days of a regular manicure with a flower painted on one nail for fun. Today’s manicure uses everything but the kitchen sink, literally. Come on ladies, how do you scratch your head, get dressed, or shake someone’s hand with all that “art” on your nails.
HIGH-LOW SKIRTS AND DRESSES
PLEASE. MAKE. IT. STOP. We’ve suffered enough.
Sweatshirts were everywhere this year and for whatever reason I just couldn’t understand the fascination. Everyone from high fashion lines like 3.1 Phillip Lim and Givenchy to stores like Target sold sweatshirts. Even with Disney characters or comic strip sayings, I couldn’t wrap my head around this concept.
Since when did bank robber attire become cool?
Ladies, I’m sure we all own a bodycon dress or two, but what irks me is seeing online “boutiques” constantly selling them offering a so-called stylish dress made of cheap materials that will rip in the wash. Plus, why is this always the go-to dress when we have events or outings to attend? It’s a style that is always the same, so why are we constantly wearing it?
COMMANDO CUTOUT DRESSES
Ok, so this trashy trend resurrected itself, what did we do to deserve this? Certain celebs wore dresses this year that had us questioning is she or isn’t she. If you decide to go panty free then fine, however no one should know that but you.
There you have it, the 10 trashiest, tackiest, worst trends of 2013. Some were trashier than others, but sadly, they all were a MESS!
Until next year….
